Ross Stores (ROST) topped quarterly forecasts but shares are sliding late. The off-price apparel chain’s quarterly report adds to the slew of retailers disclosing earnings this week.
Ross Stores Earnings
Estimates: First-quarter earnings growth of 29%, to $1.06 a share, on 7% revenue gains, to $3.53 billion, according to Zacks Investment Research. Same-store sales should climb 2.6%, according to Consensus Metrix.
Results: EPS of $1.11 and sales of $3.59 billion. Same-store sales rose 3%. Operating margin during the quarter notched down slightly from the prior-year quarter.
Outlook: Ross now sees full-year profit of $3.92-$4.05 a share, including the benefit from lower taxes, vs. prior outlook for $3.86-$4.03 a share. Consensus is for $4.03 EPS for the year.
